Overview

Nitrous oxide, often called happy gas, is a mild form of sedation breathed in through a small mask over your nose. It helps you feel calm while staying awake and able to respond.

The effects come on quickly and wear off soon after the mask is removed. For most people this means you can drive yourself home.
