Overview

Dental X-rays let us see areas the eye cannot, such as between teeth, inside a tooth, and in the bone around the roots. They help find decay, infection and other problems early.

Modern dental X-rays use a very low dose of radiation. We only take them when they will help your care, and we use protective steps to keep exposure as low as possible.

What to know

  • Show decay and problems hidden from view
  • Help us catch issues early

Common questions

Why do I need X-rays?
They show decay and other problems we cannot see by looking alone.
Are dental X-rays safe?
The dose is very low, and we only take them when they will help you.
How often are they needed?
It depends on your needs. We base timing on your individual risk.
What if I am pregnant?
Tell us. We usually delay non-urgent X-rays and use extra protection.
Can I see my X-rays?
Yes. We are happy to show you and explain what they reveal.
